Enhancing Satellite Data Quality for Better Earth Observation

Creating better images without any interference for the French Spatial Agency. Learn more about our solution.

Computer Vision
Satellite Imagining

CESBIO is a research laboratory that belongs to the French Spatial Agency. Its operations rely heavily on Earth Observation data, including data from the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) satellite. This satellite uses the reserved L-band to monitor soil moisture and sea surface salinity.

The Challenge

Interference from illegal emitters could alter readings and render the data unusable. CESBIO's mission of using satellite data for environmental research should not be interfered, not even in one of its satellites.

The Solution

We developed a cutting-edge variational method designed to perform robust image restoration and super-resolution on the data obtained.

Impact

High-Quality Data
Mitigated the impact of illegal emitters, resulting in higher-quality data from the SMOS satellite.
Publications
The research work was acknowledged and published in IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing.
