Ecuador’s Department of Homeland Security, specifically the Migration Undersecretariat, manages the Ecuadorian Migration System (SIMIEC), which tracks migration movements and handles security checks for national and international alerts.
The Challenge
The Ecuadorian Migration System (SIMIEC) faced the critical task of managing increasing irregular migration flows while bolstering internal national security. The Ministry needed to upgrade its capabilities to better verify alerts and conduct more effective immigration control operations across the country’s control units.
The Solution
We provided consultancy to define the technical requirements for a new Biometric Matching System.
The solution involved analyzing institutional needs to create a roadmap for integrating biometric capabilities into the existing SIMIEC infrastructure, which included providing a strategic architectural design and a reliable cost estimate for the full implementation.
