Gabriele Facciolo

Scientific Consultant

Gabriele Facciolo conducts research on mathematical modeling and machine learning applied to computer vision, particularly in the areas of image/video restoration, remote sensing, and robust object detection, all with a particular focus on reproducibility.

In 2011, Gabriele Facciolo joined Jean-Michel Morel's team at the École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay, where he is currently a professor and heads the Image Processing team . He participates in numerous industrial projects, creating image processing algorithms and transferring technologies with the French Space Agency (CNES), Kayrros, HGH, Schlumberger, and Thales.

Gabriele Facciolo has over ten years of experience designing algorithms for remote sensing applications and has collaborated with CNES on the MISS (Mathematics of Stereoscopic Imaging in Space) project. The 3D reconstruction algorithms and satellite stereoscopic pipeline he created with his team at the Borelli Center have been incorporated into the official CNES stereoscopic pipeline. He and his team also won the IARPA Multi-View 3D Stereo Mapping Challenge in 2016.

He is also one of the founding editors of IPOL , the first journal to publish articles related to online executable algorithms. He is co-editor-in-chief of the IPOL journal.
